It's Been Too Long...

...and time I resurrected this little blog.

Time seems to slip by too quickly, suddenly it's May and I haven't written for so long here. Will endeavour to update weekly, no promises but am going to try.

Check back shortly...

Content...

con'tent[kuh-n-tent]

 - adjective
1.  Satisfied with what one is or has; not wanting more or anything else.
2.  BritishAgreeing; assenting.
3.  Archaic. Willing

Again, despite my promises, both to myself and the two or so readers I have left here, I have been quiet on the blogging front. Facebook has a way of sneaking up and taking over if you are not careful. I signed up with FB quite some time ago, mainly to see what the fuss was about...I fought it despite numerous friend requests and was then contacted by people from my "past"...enough to pique my curiousity again. I do like the immediacy of it, it's different to blogging, which is for me a longer and more thoughtful process, but still complementary somehow.

I'm yet to do Twitter...I just don't get it and don't think I ever will.

Was looking for a previous post on my blog yesterday and happened across a post/award which asked me to list the things that make me happy. I thought I'd link it here and ask again...

What Makes You Happy...??

In recent times I have been feeling very content and full with life here...nothing has perceptibly changed so I'm not sure what has brought this on but if I really think about it the following works for me...
  • Life has been busy with kids sporting activities, school & friends...
  • John & I have spent more time alone of late, he also seems very content too...
  • Matilda & Myles are (for the most part) very easy teenagers...watching the adults that are emerging is an endless source of fascination to me...
  • I have applied to begin a Bachelor of Midwifery at UQ (University of Queensland)...
  • Our triplet grandchildren are 6 months old today and incredibly healthy and happy...as are their Mum, Dad & Brothers...
  • I'm 52 kilos (114lbs for my US friends) lighter than this time last year...
  • My kidney disease/function is resolving and my energy levels are improving...I haven't had a hospital visit in almost 4 months...
It's all good really...no, it's better than good, much better.

If you get a chance please pay a visit to Kel's Blog Taurus Rising. She has a great giveaway happening at the moment. Her new business The Ethicurean sells beautiful soft mesh and gauze fabric bags to carry your market produce home and let it breathe in...a wonderful way to do away with plastic...they are very stylish too. I'm hoping to be one of the lucky ones but am intending to purchase in the near future too. There aren't many entries at this point in time so your chances are good...winners announced tomorrow.

Might be time for a coffee now...lazy Sundays are just divine.

Rated PG-13...

For a bit of fun I checked out my Blog's rating and scored a PG-13. Parents are strongly advised that some material may be unsuitable for children under 13.

Just because I mention the words Pain (x3), Dead (x2), Death (x1). Funny that it didn't pick up the F-Bombs I dropped a couple of weeks ago.

Rather bizarre...

Currently Reading...

I'm currently reading The Household Guide To Dying by Debra Adelaide. Have had it for about 10 days now and have finally finished my previous book, Don't Call Me Ishmael (a young adult book that I adored, it has a laugh a page).

Verdict thus far...unputdownable...

Last night I stayed up with my book until 2.20am savouring the silence and peace of the house after everyone else had gone to bed. Okay, I probably really only read until about 1.15am or so. (...that much I do know as I got up at 12.45 to make a hot chocolate and finished drinking it so timewise that fits...). Yep, I fell asleep on the sofa...snuggled in a blanket, cushions behind my head, our smoochy Burmese cat Leo purring on my lap keeping me warm...hopeless I am, just hopeless. I woke quite stiff and sore, wondered if it was worth my while staying where I was or whether I should get up and go to bed...was almost too tired to do so. I contemplated this for a good ten minutes and felt myself slipping slowly back into slumber

In the end I opted for bed, knowing I would get more sleep there come morning. I was in luck, John had been sprawled across the bed, my side was still warm. I snuggled up to his back and slept again.

Feeling a bit tired this evening as a result, my eyes are a little scratchy. Had a lovely day out shopping today at Freedom Furniture with my cousin Joan,,,bought a new laundry hamper and a lovely shower curtain for the kids bathroom. I wasn't relishing cooking dinner this evening but Matilda has offered to cook Bean & Corn Enchiladas, the sweetheart...of course I said "Yes please..." She & Myles are busy in the kitchen now.

John should be home shortly, I feel a bottle of wine might just be liberated from the cellar tonight. Friday evenings are often relaxed and indulgent here...definitely an ice cream kind of night tonight. Enjoy yours wherever you are, I hope it's with those who love you.

Speaking of love...if you haven't already found Snickollet's blog from my blogroll, pop on over and read her news. Her husband and father of their two year old twins Riley & Maddie died of Pancreatic Cancer around 18 months ago. She has struggled in so many ways since John died. Just recently she has dipped her big toe back in the shallow end of the dating pool. She writes bravely and honestly...to hear her happiness is so heartwarming & contagious. Her blog is a favourite of mine.

Also Buddha Girls' blog entry for today, it brought me to tears. Teachers like her are diamonds.

Finally...

My first post...

It's been a long time coming but finally I have managed to get my blog up and running. I'm often guilty of spending way too many hours at the computer getting a glimpse into the lives of others, it kind of satisfies the voyeur in me.

What is it that I love about peeping into open windows..?? When I lived in Melbourne I used to often walk in the dusk, I loved looking into windows where the lights were on but the curtains not yet drawn. Families were getting ready for the evening, cooking smells often wafting into the streets.

Blogging kind of does that for me...gives me a chance to peep inside your open window...
